EARLY CHILDHOOD
Discovery EARLY CHILDHOOD SERIES Our Discovery Early Childhood Series is a progressive program meant to be a bridge for transitioning little ones into a more structured preschool world! Classes in the series take place in the same location and are taught by the same staff in order to create a familiar and welcoming environment to foster growth and development as your little one begins to grow into their independence. Children do not need to be potty-trained, but staff are not permitted to change diapers or assist in the bathroom (undressing, wiping, placing on toilet, etc.). A trusted adult must be available to change soiled diapers/training pants or take the child to the bathroom if in the process of potty training. No class Nov. 5 or Nov. 26 to 28. Location: Lincoln Center
FIRST STEPS: YOU & YOUR TODDLER (FORMERLY DISCOVERY PLAY) Embark on a journey together with your little one! First Steps is a playgroup designed for children to participate alongside a trusted adult caregiver. Ease into a classroom setting and routine with structured and unstructured play ranging from sensory and language activities to fine and gross motor play. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver; both adults and children should wear gym shoes and comfortable clothing that is OK to possibly get messy. No class Nov. 5 or Nov. 26 to 27. We’ll focus on life skills and areas of classroom-readiness like identifying feelings, interacting with peers, understanding and following rules, making choices and problem solving. Wear gym shoes and comfortable clothing that is OK to get messy! This class is designed for participation without a caregiver, and is meant for children who can separate easily from their caregiver. LITTLE EXPLORERS: TODDLER INDEPENDENCE CLASS (FORMERLY DISCOVERY KIDS) If your little one is ready to explore their independence, try this transitional class! Building on the framework laid in First Steps, children will exercise curiosity and playfulness as they develop listening skills, learn to follow directions, and improve gross an d fine motor skills. Through structured and unstructured play, we’ll learn to follow directions, develop listening skills, and improve gross and fine motor skills. Children may enroll in more than one class per week. Wear gym shoes and comfortable clothing that is ok to get messy! Classes are designed for participation without a caregiver; we are prepared to work through some separation anxiety, however children who are really struggling might be recommended to try First Steps instead.
