ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS Join us at Lyman Woods to meet and greet our nature center’s special residents. Help feed our animal friends and learn about bees, bugs and lizards. Butterflies, especially monarch butterflies, have drastically declined in numbers over the years. Learn how to turn your yard into a butterfly hotspot with pollinator-friendly plants that attract everything from cute and cuddly caterpillars to stunning adult butterflies. Free take-homes may include plants, seeds and more! Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please register everyone attending. CICADACELEBRATION! NEW! The year of the cicada is upon us! This once in a generation event is only possible because the 17-year and 13-year cycles of cicada emergence perfectly align in 2024. Join us for a fun-filled celebration of the loudest insect on Earth where we’ll share plenty of fun facts, make a fun musical craft, and even try some tasty cicada- inspired snacks! Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please sign up everyone attending. Interested in taking your family fishing but don’t know where to start? Join us at Patriots Park for this fun fishing class! You’ll learn about the parts of the pole, how to safely cast, bait, and reel in a rod, and hopefully catch some fish in the process! Bait and fishing rods will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own equipment. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Fee is for adult/child pair, please register each child attending.
