FAIRY FESTIVAL NEW! This enchanting celebration invites families and children to step into a world of whimsy and wonder, where fairies and other mystical creatures come to life. Whether you’re soaring through the park with your new wings or creating your own magical accessories, the Fairy Festival promises to be a day filled with joy, laughter, and enchanting memories for the whole family. Come dressed in your most whimsical attire and let the fairy magic begin! Each child will receive a set of wings and a wand to decorate, adding their own creative touch to the fairy magic. The park will be filled with delightful activities, including arts and crafts, face painting, and more. Food will be available for purchase from local vendors offering
FISHING DERBY Reel in three hours of family fun at the Annual Fishing Derby. This is a free event but registration is required at dgparks.org. Longest and shortest fish in each age group will have a winner! All ties will be determined by a random drawing. Each participant must be registered to be eligible for prizes. Participants may only win one prize. Children younger than 11 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. All participants 16 years of age or older are required to have a valid fishing license in order to participate. Fishing licenses may be purchased online at www.ifishillinois.org. NEW! Get ready for a one-of-a-kind outdoor adventure at Lyman Woods! Introducing our brand-new Pinecone Golf Course—an all-terrain experience that blends the fun of mini golf with the skill of frisbee golf. Start your journey at the William F. Sherman Jr. Interpretive Center, where you’ll register and pick up your pinecones, scorecard, and course map. Choose between the 9-hole course for a quick challenge or the full 18-hole course if you have extra time to explore. Each hole winds along the scenic trails of Lyman Woods, featuring unique obstacles, challenges, and twists to keep things exciting! When you're all done, stop at the Interpretive Center to receive a special prize! Courses available June 7 to Oct. 12 (weather pending) during regular Interpretive Center building hours.
