Wild Edibles Foraging Our natural areas are filled with fascinating edible plants, if you only know where to look! Join our naturalist on a guided hike on and off trail at Lyman Woods to learn about wild edible plants found season to season, safety precautions, local rules, and even how to grow some easy ones at home! Finally, we’ll head over to our native orchard and gardens to check out some of our wild herbs, spices and fruits and make some simple wild dishes to try. Please register everyone attending. Family Fishing Fun! Interested in taking your family fishing but don’t know where to start? Join us for this fun fishing class! You’ll learn about the parts of the pole, how to safely cast, bait, and reel in a rod, and hopefully catch some fish in the process! Bait and fishing rods will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own equipment. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Fee is for child/parent pair. Please register each child attending. Led by one of our expert birders, we’ll hike through oak savanna, prairie and wetlands to discover both year-round and migratory birds found in the Chicago Region.
