EARLYBIRDS-BIRDINGHIKES The early birds get the worm! Borrow a pair of our binoculars and join us for a fun and refreshing morning hike to explore and find some of Lyman Woods’ favorite feathered friends. Led by one of our expert birders, we’ll hike through oak savanna, prairie and wetlands to discover both year-round and migratory birds found in the Chicago Region. Each program will highlight special topics in birding and ornithology. Great for those interested in birds or photography! Please register everyone attending. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Book a private group program for your friends, family, daycare, school, club or organization. We offer a wide range of themes and topics and can even customize a program to your needs or develop something totally new! Celebrate the end of school and the start of summer by pitching a tent and camping at Lyman Woods! Scheduled activities include a night hike, story time, games, crafts, and a fire to cook s’mores and hot dogs, along with chips to eat (provided). Families are welcome to bring additional dinner items to share in their tents or food to cook over the campfire! Our roasting forks may be used, but other cooking utensils are not provided. Staff will remain onsite overnight to keep bathrooms open and offer assistance as needed. Space inside the nature center is available in case of inclement weather. Fee includes outdoor tent space (up to 6 people), but does not include a tent. No tent? No problem! Select the tent rental option below when registering and borrow one of ours! Register only one adult per family to reserve your spot. Please list the number of people attending. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Each tour will highlight plants in bloom, special animals one might find, and fascinating local history from pioneer times and beyond. Gilbert Park tour will include Maple Grove Forest Preserve.
