FESTIVAL OF COLORS NEW! Celebrate the beauty and colors of fall in this fun-filled day with activities and sights for everyone! We’ll have colorful arts and crafts using natural dyes and sun printing. Explore the trails with scavenger hunts, games and interactive activities that highlight the eye catching reds and golds of autumn. Make your way back to the nature center to enjoy apple cider, cocoa, popcorn and other treats to keep you warm. Drop in early or sleep in and come later in the day! Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please register everyone attending. Come dressed to impress in your costumes to enter our costume contest. Drop in anytime to learn about spooky animals while you trick or treat down our haunted trail encountering obstacles and challenges along the way. Create a Halloween craft, try some yummy snacks, and spend some time with our resident animals. Close out the day around a campfire with s’mores. The best family costume could win a private meet and greet with one of our animals! Fee is per child; an adult must accompany their child(ren) during this program. Infant siblings under 24 months are welcome to attend but do not need to register. RELICS & RUINS Come to Lyman Woods to get a special, behind-the scenes tour of the ruins and remains of past buildings and examine close-up the many fascinating artifacts unearthed over the years at the preserve. Be sure to bring your hiking shoes as you’ll be guided off trail by our staff to uncover remnants from the late 1800s through the 1980s. Please register everyone attending. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Explore the creative process of linoleum printmaking, one of the easiest methods of relief printing! Students will learn how to carve into linoleum blocks, transfer images using different types of ink, and how to proof and print the linocut block. Make beautiful custom cards, paper prints, or unique fabric designs! Class includes several blocks and tools for you to work with and to take home afterward to continue your new skill. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please register everyone attending.
