RODENTS OF UNUSUAL SIZE NEW! You’ve heard about rabbits and squirrels, but did you know that thousands of years ago there were rodents that weighed as much as a car and were as big as a bear!?! We’ll learn about jaw-dropping rodents that lived during the Ice Age, as well as the giant rodents that are still alive today. Through hands-on activities we’ll uncover how these amazing creatures shaped their environments, including nature’s best engineers-the beavers! Finally, slip on your rainboots to help us build a massive beaver dam out of sticks and mud to create our own mini wetland habitat. This is drop-off, youth-only program. We’ll learn how snakes are important to our ecosystem as well as fun facts that bring these reptiles to life through song, dance and hands-on artifacts. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please register everyone attending. NEW! Join us for an exciting outdoor adventure where young explorers will discover the fascinating world of dragonflies! Dive into fun hands-on activities as we search for real-life dragonflies in our ponds and creeks. Later you’ll make your very own dragonfly kites and practice different flying techniques and tricks. Come ready to create, explore and soar! This is a youth-only, drop-off program. Come to Lyman Woods to learn the same techniques and tricks that paleontologists use in the field as we explore our dig areas to locate and excavate dinosaur bone replicas and other buried treasurers from ages past. Piece together the puzzles to unravel the mysteries of the creatures we find and how they lived millions of years ago. This is a youth only, drop-off program.
