FISHY FRIENDS NEW! Borrow a pair of our waterproof waders and explore the watery worlds of Lyman Woods! Although water covers most of the world’s surface, much of what lives and happens underneath is a giant mystery. We’ll work on uncovering what fish and other aquatic critters can be found in our creeks, ponds and wetland marsh. We’ll practice netting and release, engage in minnow races and learn what fish need to survive in the water. This is a youth-only, drop-off program. Bring your old, leftover Halloween jack-o-lanterns and help us smash, bash and completely pulverize them in some wild and wacky ways and maybe even make a mini pumpkin slingshot. Don’t have any pumpkins, then help us smash some of ours! Smashed pumpkins will then be added to our compost bin to help us make new soil for our garden. It’s a win-win! Dress to get messy and to be outdoors. This is a drop-off, youth-only program. Even our raccoons! Help us plan a super-secret “pizza” party for our rascally raccoon neighbors. We’ll have all the special party extras: decorations, costumes, party favors, and, of course, a giant special “pizza pie” fit for nature’s bandits! While we plan and prepare, we’ll learn a bit about raccoons, play some raccoon and pizza-inspired games, and close out our evening of fun with some homemade pizza pockets and other yummy treats around the campfire. FORT NIGHT! Help us create the ultimate cardboard fortresses! Bring your own cardboard or use some of our own. We’ll build various cardboard forts, towers and accessories, then have a fantastic ball battle with squishy balls to see which forts hold up the best! In between the building and games, we’ll settle around the campfire for some hot dogs and smore’s This is a drop-off, youth-only program. Bring your gift list (up to six people) and we will supply the project ideas and supplies. Leave with your creations ready for giving, complete with handmade wrapping! Hurry! Santa’s gotta make it to town! Santa and the elves are behind on their Christmas preparations, so we need your help to get a few final presents ready and to get the reindeer in tip-top shape for their big night! We’ll make some special holiday crafts (a few extra to take home and share), wrap some gifts, load up our sleds, and take Rudolph and a couple other reindeer friends out on the trails for some exercise and to practice their flying. We’ll learn some fun facts about reindeer and other members of the deer family along the way and end the evening with some yummy treats for both Rudolph and all the kids.
