SILVER MAPLES: ACTIVE ADULTS IN NATURE
For Adults BEARS, BEERS & VALENTINES Not sure what to get that special someone this Valentine’s Day? No worries! Let us help you create a unique, one of-a-kind gift made from natural materials and inspired by nature! We’ll provide all the materials and several gift options for you to create and customize by hand as you enjoy a wide selection of wines, spirits and (of course) beers from our cash bar. Gift options include: fruit bar with strawberries and dipped chocolate; lip balm; winter willow wreaths; potpourri; and a build your own plush bear (brown, black or polar). Delectable treats will be available to sample as our instructors assist you with your romantic creations, sprinkling some fun facts about bears, and other wildlife associated with the Valentine’s Day holiday! Please note: this program takes place at the Belmont Golf Club, 2420 Haddow Ave. in Downers Grove. Come join us at Lyman Woods for an evening to strengthen your body and sharpen your mind! Each session of this peaceful program for active adults (55 years and older) will incorporate different nature-themed topics to inspire outdoor exploration and appreciation for nature and the benefits it provides. Birding & Bird Feeders: Learn the essentials of bird watching and end the session by crafting your own bird feeder, complete with special bird feed to take home. Woods & Woodworking: Discover the variety of wood products derived from trees, explore the unique characteristics of natural wood, and enjoy a hands-on carving session to create a small wooden animal to take home. Container Gardens & Windowsill Herbs: Whether you have a yard or just a windowsill, this workshop will guide you in growing edible plants. Learn how to maximize growth indoors using supplemental lighting and other handy techniques. REAP WORK DAYS Join our REAP (Restore, Educate and Preserve) volunteer group at Lyman Woods and Belmont Prairie.
