SEARS AND HISTORIC HOMES WALKING TOUR In the early 20th century numerous Downers Grove residents purchased homes straight out of mail-order catalogs. Take a 60-minute narrated walking tour with our museum staff as we discuss these Sears homes and other unique historic homes. Some parts of this walking tour may not be ADA accessible. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Toddlers in strollers and carriers are free with a registered adult. For Families THE BLODGETTS AND THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD Take a tour of the newly restored 1846 Blodgett House. We will explore the lives of Israel and Avis Blodgett, and their role on the Underground Railroad. Please register everyone attending. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult. March 8 marks 115 years since the designation of International Women’s Day. Come celebrate the amazing women in your life and in the history of Downers Grove here at the Downers Grove Museum. We’ll honor some of the notable women in our town’s history from Avis Blodgett to the Selig Sisters and Lottie O’Neal with some exciting activities, crafts and games! In the early 20th century, numerous Downers Grove residents purchased homes straight out of mail-order catalogs! Join the museum staff on a leisurely 75-minute narrated bus tour of Sears and other catalog homes that are still standing in Downers Grove. All participants must be registered as bus space is limited, and all children under 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
