Special Events Country in the Park

Maple Fest New! Drop in any time during this three-hour program at the Downers Grove Museum to discover how maple syrup gets made over an outdoor fire! Learn how one of nature’s tastiest treats goes from a tree to your kitchen table. We’ll have games to play, artifacts to check out and treats to try for the whole family. All participants must register and all registered children under 16 years old must be accompanied by a paid, registered adult. Historic Cocktail Tasting at Belmont Spanning five decades of popular cocktails you may not have heard of from the 1960s-2000s. During this program you will learn how to make and do a tasting of each of these pieces of history. Snacks will accompany the beverages. Each drink will be accompanied by fun facts about the drink and the time period of its popularity. Celebrate spring and explore history at Country in the Park, part of the annual Downers Grove Founders Day celebration sponsored by The Grove Foundation. This family-friendly event features visits with farm animals, 1850’s pioneer-era games and engaging activities for all ages. Inviting all crafters! We invite you to join us at Country in the Park to show off and sell your handicrafts in Wandschnieder Park. All work must be original and handmade by the vendor. All spaces (8x10) are $12 and include one table and 2 chairs. Spaces have a high possibility of being in the direct sun—tents are recommended (8x10). Tent rentals can also be purchased for an additional $20 plus tax. Contact us at museum@ dgparks.org for more details.
