For Adults Bears, Beers & Valentines Not sure what to get that special someone this Valentine’s Day? No worries! Let us help you create a unique, one of-a-kind gift made from natural materials and inspired by nature! We’ll provide all the materials and several gift options for you to create and customize by hand as you enjoy a wide selection of wines, spirits and (of course) beers from our cash bar. Gift options include a fruit bar with strawberries and dipped chocolate; lip balm; winter willow wreaths; potpourri; and a build your own plush bear (brown, black or polar). Delectable treats will be available to sample as our instructors assist you with your romantic creations, sprinkling some fun facts about bears, and other wildlife associated with the Valentine’s Day holiday! Please note: this program takes place at the Belmont Golf Club, 2420 Haddow Ave. in Downers Grove. Our local beekeeper will teach you how to order gear and equipment, as well as how to harvest honey and other products of the hive. Check with your local municipality to find out if home-beekeeping is allowed in your area. Nature Connections: Monday After-school Program Looking to get the kids outside after school and away from screens? In this Monday-only after-school program, children will explore the great outdoors, go on hikes, do crafts, see animals and play in our wild woods. Staff will facilitate exploration and play, but the kids will decide what they want to explore each session! Each day is a new adventure entirely up to them! This program takes place outside with the exception of extreme/severe weather. Transportation is not provided to or from Nature Connections. Sessions are per month. Program will not meet on District 58 days-off school. REAP Work Days Join our REAP (Restore, Educate and Preserve) volunteer group at Lyman Woods and Belmont Prairie.
