BOXING PADS STRIKING Life can be stressful. Come to a class to help relieve stress, learn to hit and get fit! Hitting the boxing pads relieves stress, burns calories, and builds muscle endurance. When you hit the boxing pads, it releases endorphins, and you will leave each session feeling focused, relaxed, and amazing! Learn techniques such as Muay Thai, boxing, kick boxing, Salate, Savat and more. This program is not eligible for a Fitness Member rate. This class is led by a Parkinson’s fitness specialist and provides safe strengthening exercises with an emphasis on postural awareness, breathing, balance and rhythmical movement. These exercises will focus on moving safely while seated or standing, and we will use a variety of equipment including light weights and bands to increase strength and range of motion. 4500 Fitness Members who hold an active membership will receive a discounted fee when added to the cart. Join the Walking for Wellness program with a certified fitness instructor and improve your overall health and well-being one step at a time! In this 6-week session, you’ll improve walking form, distance, speed, and technique, all while enjoying the great outdoors and connecting with others in the community. You will learn about topics such as: Proper footwear Exercises for better walking Safety/awareness Meditation walking Warm-up and cooldown stretches Strength/balance training and why they are important for walking Mental and physical health benefits of walking The Walking for Wellness program will utilize various parks in the Downers Grove community. Locations of walk may vary based on weather conditions. In the case of inclement weather, the indoor track at the Cathy Mahoney Recreation Center will be utilized.
