ART PROGRAMS
PAINTERLY PRINTMAKING NEW! Explore painting as a series of printmaking techniques! Students will learn a variety of techniques to produce printmaking matrices (the surfaces the artist creates an image on before printing), painting processes using acrylic and watercolor mediums, and how to print both by hand and through experimental processes. There are no limitations in subject matter. Students are encouraged to develop their own imagery and interests through exploring new techniques. This class is all about exploring variety in image making! Class will function as an “open-studio” style format, beginning with demonstrations each day and then utilizing the class work time allotted. We will take time each class to look at student work and other reference material for inspiration and guidance. Because printmaking is a physical, materials and process-based medium, this class emphasizes experience and learning. Rather than perfecting or mastering a technique, we will think about printmaking as a way of reinventing rules to suit our purposes as artists! Certain individual supplies must be provided by the student. A supply list can be found at dgparks.org/arts-crafts. The Park District cannot provide refunds/reimbursement for supplies purchased by students.
